The Second Annual

SISU Foundation 800 Meter Challenge Race

$500 First Prize

March 8, 2008, Mesa Community College

(part of the Grand Canyon State Games)

This race will be held during the Grand Canyon State Games, which begin at 8:30 a.m. The 800 Challenge Race will be held toward the end of the schedule.

The race is a fast tune up for Masters 800 meter runners several weeks before Indoor Nationals, in Arizona’s great winter weather.  Our primary focus is speed.  Prizes will be given to the men and women who beat their All American age group standards by the greatest margins.  The male or female runner with the fastest age-adjusted time will win $500 in cash.  The three men and three women with the fastest age-adjusted times who also beat their All-American Standard will receive a certificate for a free pair of running shoes.  This year we do not have a separate entry fee – you must register for the Grand Canyon State Games: the entry fee is $15 at http://r2sports.com/tourney/home.asp?TID=3503.  If you are planning to come, please email us at divanthompson@gmail.com and tell us your name, sex, age and fastest time during the past 12 months, so we can better plan our heats and prizes.

The SISU Foundation is a non-profit group that encourages men and women of all ages to realize their potential by setting and achieving challenging goals.  Sisu (“see-soo”) is a Finnish word defined as a magical combination of stamina, perseverance and guts – the attitude that what must be done, will be done, whatever it takes!
